    DONG ZHI
    Today is Dong Zhi, the thanksgiving of the Chinese calendar. "Dong Zhi" literally means "arrival of winter". Coinciding with the winter solstice, it is an occasion for the family to get together to celebrate the good year they have had. Tang Yuan is cooked and eaten to symbolise unity and harmony within the family.

    ORIGIN
    Winter solstice signifies the beginning of winter. The sun is at the Tropic of Capricorn and this results in the longest night of the year for those living in the northern hemisphere. The festival began as a farmer's festival to celebrate year-end harvest.

    CELEBRATION
    Dong Zhi is a time for family reunion. Tang Yuan, sweet soup of glutinuous rice flour balls, is indispensible during this festival. "Yuan" (literally meaning "round") signifies "yuan man" (complete) and Tang Yuan means "tuan yuan" (family reunion). Eating Tang Yuan is symbolic of family unity and family prosperity. For good luck, families prefer to have some pink tang yuan to mix with the white ones.

    Since my parents are on holidays, i went back to 113 to pray the ancestors and goddess of mercy, I bought 2 tubs of tang yuan from the stall. Opened the windows to let the air ventilate the house after a week of complete closure. Fed the fishes in case the auto feeding machine doesn't work. As I stepped near the 3 pathetic fishes, they swam to me...as if asking me for food...so is the device working or not...should be or else they wouldn't have survive until now. Anyway, i manually fed them more food, take is as a christmas gift lor!

    Since Jim if off today, decided to 2 things: 1) Haircut 2) go redeem the xmas log from Singtel. Left home at about 4pm and went to the salon downstairs. I haven't cut my hair for almost one whole year. The very contradictory is each time when my hair grew long, i will tend to shorten it ( i mean real short, not just trimming). Then when the hair is short, tell myself that i will keep long hair liao...sigh...this is woman!! Anyway, i order for real short hair...without 2nd thought. Who cares my face look a big piece of pizza...i just want it short and simple. Phew!! Its like tonnes of weight off my head...hmm...not very bad looking lah.

    Headed for Marriot Hotel to have the log redeemed. Walao! Orchard Road is full of PEOPLE!! So crowded that you can hardly move as you like....you just got to follow the crowd and the speed. Actually i tot of giving myself a good time by hanging around until night time to see the xmas lightings. After seeing the crowd, forget it man! Come home better!

    Cooked porride for dinner with toufoo egg...hmm not had, simple and nice......Jim is playing with Joel now while i molest the combie...i scare later i will be too tired to post.

    Oh Kenneth has not responded today!! Dun be lazy, Kenneth!!! Hurry up! update me!!!
